Easily some of the best sushi I've ever had! Everything tasted so fresh and delicious that I wished I had a bigger stomach. The unagi here is absolutely amazing and may have ruined all future unagi rolls for me. I'd also really like to highlight the baked mussels which had such a powerful punch of umami flavor to it. Packed on a weekday and for good reason. Service might have been a little slow but again PACKED and I saw like a dozen carry out orders while I was waiting. My only regret is not ordering more and then just getting a to-go box

~ Your boy does not give out 5 stars so easily, but they deserve it. Everything I expected to be after reading comments and looking at some pictures. After leaving here, my heart, mind & stomach all agreed that is my #1 sushi spot in Baltimore. The service was great! I arrived at 11am or so and was greeted by a wonderful host. She was familiar with their menu, made great suggestions & and was always on time when I needed something. Kudos to her. Started with the Baked Mussels on the Half Shell and they were stunning !!! They are a must! You will never forget this taste. The juice was even amazing. 10/10. "The Baked Scallop California Roll " was good. First time trying scallops in my sushi. Just didn't like having hot scallops inside a cool roll. Threw me off just a little. 7/10. "The Sun-Kissed Roll" & " The Rainbow Special Roll" were my favorites. Absolutely fresh & smooth! I was in heaven !! 10/10. I also got the "Hot Night Baby! " which wasn't bad, but at this point, I was stuffed. Took that to go. 7/10 While crushing, I had a bottle of Clean Slate (white wine). I think I paid around $120.00 for everything. Well worth it. This place was clean and cozy, & the temperature was great. It's neighbor parking, so it's not that bad, just watch out for the street signs. Hope you all enjoy it. #TeamDiesel #TeamDiesel4Evaaaa

Food: The sushi here is so good. It's some of the best I've had since moving to Baltimore. My favorite (so far) is the R (Roll) Lewis. The unagi and soft shell crab are also wonderful. Service: The server was attentive, never letting our water run out. Our food came out quickly, and the extra roll we ordered before we left arrived fast and packaged well. Atmosphere: We didn't get to see the whole restaurant, as we sat near the entrance. The chair felt a bit uncomfortable. But other than that, the atmosphere was pleasant and inviting.

Ordered takeout, which came in cute paper/plastic boxes with ginger and wasabi on the side. + Salmon Sashimi ($14 for 5 slices): over daikon, decent cuts, very tender (8/10) + Sea Bream Sashimi ($14 for 6 slices): thin slices with radish, micro green, and sriracha. Super thin so didn't really taste the fish and the sriracha stood out (7/10) + How Dare Unagi (eel) Roll ($26 for 8 pieces): quite pricy, but was a specialty roll with a whole eel filet on top. Filet wasn't too big, but very flavorful with the eel and imitation crab (7.3/10)

When I tell you... this was the MOST delicious nigiri I've ever had in my life I'm not exaggerating! And you can trust me here - I'm a sushi snob and probably enjoy it once a week (sorry to my wallet). We had a great experience at Shoyou. They don't take reservations, but we were able to easily get a table for 2 around 6 pm on a Friday evening. The spot is intimate, informal and cozy - and our service was great (we kept adding on orders of salmon nigiri because it was to die for... they were all smiles and worked quickly). Here are my reviews of what we ordered: - Philadelphia maki (7/10) - Ultimate special roll; tempura w/ salmon on top (7/10) - Spicy scallop maki (8/10) - Yellowtail nigiri (8/10) - Big Boss roll (9/10) - Fatty tuna nigiri (10/10) - Salmon nigiri (10/10) My brother also enjoyed some sake with our meal and said it was great. Highly recommend this sushi gem!

Went there last night. Randomly. No reservations. They only take walkins and it's a very small small restaurant. Probably seats up to 40-50 people max maybe less but I was not counting. the food was absolutely phenomenal. I'd eat the sushi every day if I could. There was however only 3 staff members tending to everyone at any given moment. If they had one more server it likely would've cut the wait time down in half. But even the wait time wasn't terrible. I've had worse experiences. The food certainly made up for any "bad" or subpar service. Again the service was great we just had some longer wait times but not longer to be totally alarmed by. We had a great time and really enjoyed the food and the staff hostess busser and server was very kind and polite all night.

This 5 star spot immediately went on my food Instagram @AmandaTheEpicure because of how delcious it is! I had been wanting to try Shoyou for a long time. Everyone told me this was the best sushi in Baltimore and I definitely agree! The rolls are creative and we liked both rolls we ordered. One was a crab roll with eel on top and one was a roll with scallops and seaweed salad on top. The presentation was beautiful for both. More importantly, they were delcious! The same goes for the salmon nigiri which was a generous portion and tasted very fresh. The gyoza was crispy which is just how I like it (although they ran out of dumpling sauce which was disappointing). Every bite made us happy! Next time I want sushi, I will be coming back here.

My go to sushi place when I'm in Baltimore. Any day and at any time. I enjoy trying different rolls but this time I had the Black dragon roll. The staff is always supportive and provides a great an experience each time.

Omg. Omg. The hype is real. Shoyou Sushi is theee best sushi I've had in Baltimore. My friend and I decided to brave Federal Hill on a Saturday night specifically so we could visit Shoyou. I was really craving salmon nigiri and kept seeing amazing pics of theirs on Yelp. There was no wait and we sat down at a two top and immediately ordered the following: - Salmon nigiri - Tuna nigiri - Tuna avocado roll - Vegetable roll - A bottle of sake The salmon nigiri was so amazing. Extremely fresh, buttery, and almost melted in your mouth. The vegetable roll was also a favorite with lots of crunchy texture and good flavor. I probably could've done without the tuna avocado roll - it wasn't bad, just didn't stand out to me. We were still feeling peckish so we then ordered some more: - Yellowtail roll - Tuna belly nigiri Holy cow. The yellowtail roll was so delicious. I will definitely reorder that next time. The tuna belly was like dessert. It was so light and buttery. Some of the best raw fish I've ever had. Huge plus to this spot for offering a gluten free menu and gluten free soy sauce (tamari). It's so refreshing to know exactly what kind of sushi roll I can enjoy without worrying about reactions. The fish is so fresh here you won't want any of those specialty fried rolls anyway. The total was about $50 per person. It was a ton of food at incredible quality so no complaints over the price point. I will definitely be returning!

My Yelp Elite bestie took me here and it was INCREDIBLE! It had been in her Baltimore collection for some time because she had heard so many great things about it. All the great things you hear are correct. This place is so yummy. There was only one server when we went so getting his attention was tough at times, but he was a great server overall. There was a lot of seating inside too. Here is what we ordered: Gyoza: I'm drooling writing about these. These lightly fried pork dumplings were divine. They had a great crunch and were perfectly juicy. Baked Scallop California Roll: My friend ordered this and adored all the ingredients. The mushroom with the scallops were a wonderful combo for her. Black Dragon Roll: I loved all the flavor in my roll. The crab they use in this is so meaty and yummy. They eel and avocado combo is just what I was looking for. I highly recommend ordering this roll. Salmon nigiri: The quality of the fish they use here is amazing. The salmon was fatty and lump. They gave me not only two nigiris, but a few extra slices of salmon on the side. It had a hint of lemon which added to the flavors. I cannot emphasize enough how delicious everything was. I'm excited to go back for more next time I'm in Baltimore.
